Tloma Primary School in Tanzania, Africa, has almost 800 students. Each Kindergarten through Grade 7 classroom has between 85 and 125 students. This could be a challenging situation for even the most skilled educator. Public schools are meant to be supported by the government, but lack of national funding often leaves them in dire need of both supplies and qualified instructors.

Paschal Amma loves teaching, but he was concerned about the challenges of teaching in overcrowded classrooms, especially for foundational courses such as Math. When I teach large classes, there are several things I feel I cannot do effectively. For example, I cannot give each student enough attention, I struggle to grade and return all assignment on time, and it becomes difficult to make sure that everyone has understood the lesson. Tloma Giving is partnering with Krispy Kreme for the Krispy Kreme Digital Dozens Fundraising Campaign. Purchasing a Krispy Kreme Digital Dozen will help provide meals for the students at Tloma Primary School.

Tloma Giving has partnered with women in the community to start a program at Tloma Primary School whereby sanitary pads can be made available to young girls going through puberty. These pads are called Salama, which means “safe” in Swahili.
