About
Dr. Jim Swallow graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He went on to specialize in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care. Jim and his family later moved to the northern coast of California where he practiced office and hospital medicine.
While on a return visit to East Africa, Jim and his wife encountered Tloma Primary School, where the children stole their hearts. Jim joined forces with other like-minded people to form Tloma Giving.

Although it seems primitive to westerners, a toilet system like the one shown in this illustration is “state of the art” in parts of Tanzania where running water is scarce

Introducing the Kilimani Kindergarten
When preschool and kindergarten classes at Tloma Primary School became extremely overcrowded, plans were developed to have some of those students join another school. The proposed school was a good distance away and involved these little ones having to cross a dangerous river during rainy seasons.
